10 Homes We Loved This Year

3 mins read

With home being a big part of this past year, I thought it only appropriate to do a little round-up of a few of our favourite home tours we did this past year on the blog. Small spaces seemed to be the theme for 2020, and perhaps fitting for the year we had, keeping things cozy and intimate.  Let’s take a look!

1. The Lilypad Container Airbnb
(Above) Nestled on 13 acres of woods this adorable shipping container Airbnb is inspiring. Dubbed, The Lilypad, and located a couple miles from the entrance of Old Man’s Cave in Logan Ohio, we’re loving its’ black facade and cozy interior. A perfect addition to our hotel style series here on Poppytalk. Click here to see.
2. A Tinyhouse in Queensland
Was delighted to find a family who has chosen to live in a tiny house, to focus on a more simplified life, a life of less stuff, more time and financial freedom. Something I think many of us long for, and have come to realize the importance of, especially during these uncertain times.

3. A Timber Cabin in the Swedish Backcountry
Just over ten years ago, Sweden-based, Swedish Timber Frame erected their first framework outside Örebro, Sweden using timber from a 19th century house.
Visit it here.
4. Grand Pic Chalet
A sneak peek from Escapology, a new book by Colin McAlister and Justin Ryan.

5. An A-Frame Vacation Home (Scandinavian Style)

If you love A-Frames, you’re going to love this gorgeous boutique vacation cabin I came across recently. Click here to see.
6. Faire du Ski
A beautiful cabin near a ski resort in Quebec. See more here.
7. An Artist’s Home Tour
We loved the serene colours of Vancouver-based artist, Sarah Delaney’s home.  Click here to see.
8.  Small Space Apartment in Ibizia
This recently renovated apartment in the heart of Ibiza old town caught our eye, located on a cobbled narrow street in the heart of the action. Click here to see more.
9. A Converted Stable
Located in a small town east of Santander, Spain, a former stable was recently converted into a seasonal home. See more here.
10. Small Space Q&A
We asked Alison Mazurek for a few tips on living small. Click here for the interview and a mini tour of her home.
